84 – Sunrise at Sea

Posted: September 26, 2012 in Uncategorized

The skies seemed to go on forever then.
The pelting rains, cascades of cloud
& snaps of thunder
Complemented the tide’s roar,
The water’s rhythm endless against the bold shore.

Year has followed un-gently upon year,
Tugs moaning against shoals,
Pulling my ungainly spirit past
Buoys sighing in the debris of a fog-cloaked reef –
To my final place, shivering,
weathered and alone.
My eyes now averted,
In grim partnership with my feet,
Shuffling along the grey, grey stone.
