50 – Half-way There

Halfway Home

Mid-way through the darkness,
We at times reflected upon our fate.
Pausing on occasion,  we considered
The muffled cry of companions
Who had lost their way.

With heavy step And labored breath
We crossed the wood’s unrelenting confines,
No sun to guide us,
We yet believed
That the light of day was within our grasp.
